The S. Julião da Barra Fort was built in the second half of the 16th century, in Foz do Tejo, as a reinforcement of the defence of the city of Lisbon and its port, having been considered the “Shield of the Kingdom”.

In addition to the military defence mission, it functioned as an education college and as a prison. From 1951 onwards it has been used for acts of representation of National Defence bodies and as a space for holding events.

It is a unique place full of symbolism, ideal for holding events.
